“Je suis qui?”

Kate Woyicki — Virginia, United States

Blacking out. Waking up. A language and country I did not quite understand. All starting with rain clicking and clicking on cold cobblestone steps. In a church built over a thousand years ago. Wrapped in vines blossoming with golden buds. Set in the rural countryside of France. Cousins hand in hand. Spirals of endless steps. All climbing up, but one falling down. An accident. Ending with pools of red water. Tears and regrets. All, waiting and waiting. Clocks ticking. Sirens screaming. Coming closer and closer. Her. Me. Like a broken tape record, the same words, again and again and again.
